White backgrounds win the main image slot, but the rest of your gallery is where buyers decide. Lifestyle images answer the question a spec sheet can't: what is this thing like in my home?
Context does the convincing
The rule is simple — show the product where it gets used, styled the way your buyer's home actually looks. Aspirational, but plausible.
- Kitchen & appliances — Counter scenes with morning light; keep surfaces realistic, not showroom-empty.
- Beauty & skincare — Bathroom vanities, marble and glass, soft diffused light.
- Apparel & accessories — Minimal pedestals or styled flat lays — let texture carry the shot.
- Drinkware & food — In-hand or table scenes with condensation and crumbs left in.
When to stay clean
If the product's shape is its selling point — electronics, tools, anything technical — a gradient or dark studio template often outperforms a busy scene. Test one lifestyle and one studio variant per listing; the click-through data will tell you which story your buyers want.
